Facilities

Both suites; The Guest Wing and The Bay View Apartment have private facilities including fully equipped clean kitchens with fridge/freezer, stove, oven, microwave, food storage boxes and all the saucepans, utensils, crockery and cutlery you need to prepare and enjoy your meals. You can help yourself to our fresh herbs from the garden, as well as spices in the kitchen, along with the tea, coffee and sugar that is available for guests. We even have espresso machines, so bring your favourite ground coffee beans with you or purchase some freshly ground coffee from us.

We have modern BBQs for guests to use which is perfect for outdoor alfresco dining on our courtyards and terrace garden on those warm summer evenings.

Our dining rooms are adjacent to the kitchens, creating a very social atmosphere, where you can share stories of your days adventures or plan for the coming days whilst cooking.

The closest supermarket to Anakiwa 401 is in Havelock or Picton, so its a good idea to pick up some supplies on your way through to us, as there are no shops in Anakiwa. All the large supermarkets are in Blenheim or Nelson. You can also arrange to have your groceries delivered to Anakiwa 401 through Fresh Choice Picton or Countdown Blenheim. But don’t worry, if you don’t have all the provisions you may need with you, we have a selection of Heat & Eat Meals, Pizzas, Frozen ready meals, DIY Dinners, eggs, noodles and can arrange a Continental Breakfast for you at $15 per person. We also have a range of soft drinks, beer and wine available for sale to our guests.

In Linkwater, about 7kms away from here, you’ll find a Service Station which has a few essentials for sale such as milk & bread and opposite is the Queen Charlotte Tavern which serves tasty meals all day.

A selection of great restaurants and supermarkets can be found in nearby Havelock & Picton.

In the Guest Wing, we have a cosy sunny guest lounge is a great place to socialise with members of your party, play cards or sit and read your book. We have a selection of board games, puzzles, a book exchange and reference book library for you to enjoy, as well as a guest guitar to strum a few chords. The Old Library is now our separate TV lounge for the Guest Wing with 30″ TV and built in DVD player and access to a varied collection of over 150 DVDs to borrow.  The Dining room table here also converts into a Pool/Snooker Table for you to use.

Our Bay View Apartment has its own TV/DVD unit with access to the selection of DVDs and it also has games, puzzles, a book exchange and reference book library for you to enjoy.

Unlimited Wireless Internet access is provided complimentary to all our guests. If you’re not travelling with your own laptop or mobile device, a computer station is available for guests to use.

How about spending some time exploring the bay and nearby coastlines on our stable sit-on kayaks or stand-up paddleboard – your chance to get close to NZ birdlife and if you’re lucky, seals, dolphins & penguins too!

If you’d like a gentle bike ride, you can borrow one of our guest bikes & ride along the Link Pathway to the end of the bay and Anakiwa Road or around the roads in our village. Walk down the jetty and jump off the end – swimming here is safe and fun and there are steps for you to climb back up onto the jetty. Swim out to the swim platform close to the Anakiwa jetty (just out from our house) during summer. Or borrow our snorkel, mask and fin set for some underwater adventures. We have beach towels for you to take to the beach.

We have a selection of outdoor games – you could practice your golf putting skills, play boules, quoits or choose another from our garden games set.

Or laze with a glass of wine in our hammocks in the lawn garden or sit in our two hammock chairs up on the middle terrace in the shade of the ‘Conker’ tree (horse-chestnut).
